Participants Of the UMC Utrecht, the Subdivisions of Anaesthesiology, Child- and Adolescent Psychiatry, Clinical Neurophysiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Otorhinolaryngology, Pharmacology and Anatomy, and Psychiatry. Of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Utrecht University, the Group of Psychopharmacology. Of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, the groups of Ethiology and Welfare and Laboratory Animal Science. Mission The mission of the Rudolf Magnus Institute of Neuroscience is to advance knowledge of the function of the nervous system in order to further insight into brain development and plasticity in relation to neurological and psychiatric disorders, and to facilitate the development of new pharmacological treatments for these disorders. The Rudolf Magnus Institute aims to be one of the top five European institutes in selected areas of neuroscience research (as defined in the sections of the Institute). Research fields The research is carried out in three Departments each consisting of several sections. 1. Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery: Section Cerebrovascular Disorders, Section Neuromuscular Diseases, and Section Brain Function and Plasticity. 2. Department of Pharmacology and Anatomy: Section Neurodevelopment, Section Neural Integration, and Section Behavioural Genomics. 3. Department of Psychiatry, Section Developmental Disorders and Section Psychiatric Phenotypes.
